While visiting SEMA, we had a photo-op with the guys from Garage Rehab. Velocity channel’s Motor Village at SEMA had several photo ops with celebrities in the aftermarket automotive world and we were fortunate enough to connect with Russell and Chris from Garage Rehab. As the “muscle behind the hustle”, Russell and Chris are the guys who actually coordinate the work in the shop and get the shop ready for re-launch.
Good to connect with them after being a part of season 1 of Garage Rehab. Looking forward to season 2!
Shop Boss and Garage Rehab on the Discovery Channel!
With Richard Rawlings new hit show, Garage Rehab, auto repair shops are getting much needed makeovers and new attitudes about their business. Similar to Bar Rescue, the Garage Rehab team is helping struggling shop owners to get a handle on their business. To do this they are providing much needed new equipment, paint, signage and software. Not surprisingly, when they looked for software to bring a shop into the modern era, they chose Shop Boss.
Shop Boss is web-based auto repair shop software that offers shop owners the opportunity to take advantage of today’s internet connections and social media connections to help improve business and profitability.
- Customer Portal called My Vehicle Repairs lets the shop customer see the Inspections performed, the repair status and even schedule appointments in the future
- Digital Inspections with comments, pictures and videos
- Shop Boss is web-based and can be used on any device with an internet connection
- Unlimited users means everyone in the shop can login and keep everything up to date.
- Integrations with MechanicNet, Kukui, Quickbooks and more
In our never ending push to help our shops improve their business, we came across this article by IMR Inc. Their research shows that many customers are ignoring the scheduled maintenance on their vehicles and as we know, hurting themselves in the process.
Breaking down the “why” of it, the reasons IMR’s research showed that are keeping customers away include time, money and not believing that maintenance is important. We are providing this information so our shops can help combat it in the market place.
What you will see in the chart below:
- Can’t find a convenient time to have work done: 33%
- Cost of the repair work: 30%
- Repair just isn’t important: 14.2%
- Don’t plan on keeping vehicle: 3%
- Can’t be without their vehicle: 2%
Armed with this information, you can take action to address these concerns. Offer a free pickup and delivery service or get connected with a local car rental company that will take care of that for you and provide your customer with a rental car. You might also setup a small van with tool box and do mobile repairs.
Look for creative ways to over come the customers objections and your business will grow faster than your competitors.
